History

In Cars, Crusty appears at the Motor Speedway of the South, competing in the Dinoco 400 against the likes of Lightning McQueen, Strip Weathers, Chick Hicks and many others. He is involved in the huge accident caused by Chick Hicks, during which he spun out hitting Ryan Shields, losing one of his tires in the process. However, he does not suffer any major damage from it.

He only appears as a background character in the first movie and is never shown or mentioned in any of the sequels, assuming he retired permanently and is not likely to come back.

Official bio

"Believe it or not Crusty Rotor was actually a vinyl top salesman before the makers of Vinyl Toupee, Fine Vinyl Top in a Car put him out of business! While working out his frustration in the gym he realized he had an amazing gift for driving long, hard, grueling distances without feeling even the slightest burnout. As luck would have it the makers of Vinyl Toupee, Vinyl Top in a Can were fronting cash for a Piston Cup team. Crusty made the biggest sell of his life landing the job and all the spray-on toupee his roof could sport."[1]

Trivia

  • Crusty has the same surname as Michael Rotor, a next-generation racer in Cars 3. It is unknown if they are related in any way.
  • He resembles a car from the late 80s , 90s and early 2000s making him somewhere between 28 - 32 in the first movie but could be older by the time the third movie rolled around making him somewhere around 33 - 36 or maybe even 40
