Roger Wheeler, or simply the Dinoco Crew Chief,[1] is a pickup truck that serves as The King's crew chief. He is painted Dinoco blue with the Dinoco logo on his hood and sides. His registration number is 32592. He bears a common resemblance to a 1992 Ford F-150 Regular Cab. His V8 engine displaces unofficially known 4.7 liters.

History[]

Cars[]

In Cars, Roger first appears at the Motor Speedway of the South race commanding The King and his pit crew team in hopes of winning, only for the race to result in a three-way tie between The King, Chick Hicks and Lightning McQueen.

Roger later appears at the tie-breaker race at the Los Angeles International Speedway. Before Darrell Cartrip and Bob Cutlass make note of Doc's presence as McQueen's crew chief, he and The King's pitties stare admiringly at him.

Trivia[]

  • He is named after Pixar employee, Roger Miller.
  • He shares the same model as the Mood Springs crew chief.
    • His diecast is also an inaccurate model.
  • If Lightning Mcqueen did accept Tex's offer of becoming the new racer for Dinoco, it's possible that Roger Wheeler would become Lightning Mcqueen's crew chief alongside his colleagues becoming his pit crew. On the other hand, due to Doc Hudson being a very famous racing figure, Roger would possibly be replaced by Doc instead.
  • Although, he does not appear in Cars 3, there is an animation error in a scene where Strip Weathers' (as Cal Weathers' crew chief) is combined with a pickup truck that resembles Roger himself (despite notable differences in model) which could suggest that Roger Wheeler was intended to be Cal's crew chief in the said film as opposed to Strip Weathers.[2]
