In 1950s, it is named Florida International Speedway. However, between 2015 and 2017, it was renovated and renamed Florida International Super Speedway. In Cars 3, the Florida 500 is held at the Florida International Super Speedway. Prior to the event, Jackson Storm sets the record for fastest lap of all time at the speedway. During the Florida 500, Storm leads the pack for most of the race, until Lightning McQueen decides to withdraw. Cruz Ramirez enters the race in place of McQueen, and manages to pass Storm and win the race by utilizing a variety of techniques she learned while training with Lightning.
The track is based on the Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida.
Art director Noah Clocek said of the speedway's sleek, modern look, “We were tasked with creating a racetrack that really embraced modernism...It represents what Jackson Storm and all the rest of the next-gen racers are bringing to the sport.”
