Roybal (known as Landing Signal Officer in the book Meet the Planes) is a pitty who works on the USS Flysenhower. Most of his bodywork is dark green, but there is a patch of white between his wheels, along with the LSO logo. He is always seen wearing sunglasses.
History[]
In Planes, Roybal is phoned by the Flysenhower's captain to rig the barricade for Dusty Crophopper to land on the ship. He receives the message and orders the crew to do so, and Dusty is successfully brought to a stop with the help of the ship's arresting gear.

Meet the Planes[]
- The landing signal officer (LSO) is responsible for bringing incoming aircraft safely aboard the Flysenhower. He works closely with flight operations and the XO, Captain Stinger. Originally, the LSO would stand up on deck giving visual signals to the incoming planes. However, with the invention of the Fresnel lens optical landing system, nicknamed "the ball", the LSO is able to stay safely off the runway. The new optical landing system allows the incoming aircraft to judge their relationship to the deck through a series of lights.
