Mac iCar is a Piston Cup race car who raced for the Apple team. He is an Axxelo Fission (a model that resembles the real life Chevrolet Impala SS NASCAR) that is painted white, with the Apple logo on his hood, and the number "84" painted in grey on his doors and roof.

History

In Cars, Mac is one of the thirty-six race cars that competes in the final race of the Piston Cup season at the Motor Speedway of the South. When Chick Hicks causes the big crash, he is involved in the wreck. He spends most of the race behind Dale Earnhardt, Jr., in around the thirtieth position. At one point in the race, The King overtakes him, and Mac finishes the race in tenth position. He retires and gets replaced in Cars 3, and his replacement competes in the 2016 Piston Cup season. However, when Jackson Storm and new next-gen racers are taking over, the replacement gets fired and replaced by J.P. Drive before the race at the Rustbelt Raceway.

    • "Mac iCar likes things clean and simple. He doesn't go for the flashy colors, and gaudy stickers that adorn some of his fellow racers. He prefers a simple sleek design, and feels this creates a bold statement, one that says, "I think different.""[1]

Trivia

  • Mac's racing number, 84, is a reference to the year that Apple, Inc. famously released  the Macintosh personal computer, complete with an elaborate and ballyhooed ad campaign based on the George Orwell book 1984.
  • Mac's racing number happens to be the same as Davey Apex's.
  • Mac iCar was initially referred to as Matthew Overtaker in early promotional videos of the Blu-ray Car Finder game.
  • Mac's die-cast vehicle is one of the rarest and most valuable models to date, as only 1,000 were produced, and it was available exclusively in a 36-car Motor Speedway of the South box set that was only available to those with a Red Line Club membership.
