Tsubasa is a racing plane. He competed in the Wings Around the Globe rally with the number 23. His design is a combination of a Extra EA-300's fuselage, and a Granville R-1's vertical stabilizer.
In Planes, Tsubasa goes second fastest in the qualifying of the Wings Around the Globe. Although he competes with the other racers, neither he or his tent appear in the pit row at John F. Kennedy International Airport. In Mexico City, Tsubasa offers parts to help fix Dusty Crophopper.
Planes: Fire & Rescue
"Tsubasa is known as the "Ninja" because no one ever sees or hears him coming! Competitors fear the stealth of this master from Japan, who slices past them like an invisible warrior, eluding even their radar. His slick airframe produces little drag and nary a whisper - Tsubasa's propeller blades have brush-like trailing edges and are driven by a silenced engine, which reroutes its exhaust noise through his muffled intake. His unique "Shinobi style" of racing is based on illusion and misdirection - Tsubasa disappears into one cloud and emerges from another, leaving his opponents in a tailspin."
- In Japanese, "Tsubasa" means wing.
- There is a famous Japanese soccer anime-manga called Captain Tsubasa.
- "Meet the Planes: Fire and Rescue". Disney Books.
